Bobby Flay is a well know Chef from the Food Network. I watch him on show “Worst Cook in America”. I love his sarcastic personality and the way he interacts with the contestants. So I was excited to try Mesa Grill located in my hotel, Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas.
Of course, I started with the drink menu. The special Mesa Grill Margarita was calling my name. I think it was the fresh lime juice that sealed the deal. It was awesome! I had another. 😉
This was our first night in Las Vegas and we were still adjusting to the weird eating/travel/time change thing. So we weren’t real hungry at dinner time. We just wanted to enjoy a few drinks and appetizers in the colorful Mesa Grill. I pointed to our choices with the fish.
These blue corn lobster tacos were fantastic! Lots of lobster in good size chunks, delicious sauce and a crunchy blue corn shell. There was avocado at the bottom with habanero and fennel relish over the top. My only complaint was that they were TINY, there were only three and they cost $20.
Our second appetizer was Tiger Shrimp over a Roasted Garlic Corn Tamale. It was covered in a delicious cilantro sauce. So this was good, but (close your ears, Bobby) I like the Sweet Corn Tamale Cakes at the Cheesecake Factory just as much. Now those don’t have the shrimp, so I did enjoy that addition. But as far as the tamale goes…eh.
My husband has quite the sweet tooth, so he wanted to end the meal with some cookies served in a jar. I liked the presentation…cute! But I am a soft, gooey cookie lover and these did not do it for me. He liked them, which was good because he is the one that wanted them. 😉
I would definitely go back to Mesa Grill. I would start with that awesome margarita and maybe even have the expensive, but tiny, lobster tacos. However, I would like to try an entree next time. I’m thinking the salmon or scallops. They both sound amazing.
Have you ever been to a celebrity chef’s restaurant? Did it live up to the hype?

I'm drawn to any food or drink that has lime juice. It always reminds me of summer. I love the presentation here, especially the cookies in the jar.
My friend introduced me to Bobby Flay's burgers. My first thought was how different can his burger be – until I tasted it. They added potato chips right on the patty and it gave it a nice crunch.
Thanks for linking up, Sonja! Hope you have a great week.

I've heard he does that with the potato chips. I'll have to try that sometime.

I am so happy that I stopped by to read your post from Jenn's WIAW linkup. Umm…those tacos look amazing! But, it's the margarita that got me drooling. I don't know why, but I've really been craving one for a couple of months. I'm going to do it soon! Thank you for sharing! Oh, and no, I've never been to a celebrity's restaurant but it's on my bucket list to go with my hubs to maybe one of Ramsey's restaurants?

So glad you stopped by! I actually ate at Gordon Ramsey's Pub & Grill on this Vegas trip and will be writing about it soon. Hope you check it out! 🙂

This was an excellent ending to a great flight to Vegas. The Tiger shrimp was killer and the garlic added just the right amount of kick!
