Epcot is my favorite park at Disney World…have I mentioned that? 🙂 Anyway, I love the world showcase and exploring all the different countries. Today I’m in Japan!
I have never been to Asia, but I want to go very badly. I can’t wait to see buildings like this in “real life” not just “Disney life”. I find them so interesting.
I’m also a history nut and Asia, in general, has so much history to learn about. There is a bit of stuff on display as you enter the main building.
I want candy! I love trying some of the snacks from other countries in Epcot. I can’t say I always like them, but I always enjoy trying them. Miyuki, the lady above, has been making these candy suckers at Japan for many years. In fact, the very first time we took the kids to Disney World, she was there. Back then the kids got to keep their suckers. Now she donates them to children’s hospitals. She is fun to watch. Check out this video to see her in action.
Japanese gardens are known for their beauty and Epcot’s Japan is no exception. I loved exploring the grounds as we headed to lunch at Katsura Grill.
Katsura Grill, our lunch destination, was in the most charming spot on a hill in “Japan”.
It overlooked the beautiful gardens as well as the waterfall below.
This little duck was very entertaining while we dined. I had the chicken cutlet curry served with white rice and all the kids had teriyaki chicken.
I really enjoyed mine. The chicken was all white meat with no fat, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The sauce was slightly spicy, which I liked, and there was just enough to eat with all the rice. The girls liked the teriyaki as well. It tasted a lot like chicken teriyaki I’ve had in restaurants before. But again, the chicken was good quality and plenty of it. We had a great time while in Japan, next stop, Morocco!

I have never been to Asia but I would love to go! Germany is high on my list first. That duck dish looks amazing, My favorite dish would easily be sushi! 🙂

Oh, we love exploring Japan and Katsura Grill is a must do for us. Unfortunately, Miyuki retired a few months ago so we won't be seeing her beautiful creations anymore. Very sad, my kids grew up watching her each visit.
Oh, that is sad. Glad we enjoyed her when we could.
I love that you wrote about the Japan Pavilion today- we just returned from Walt Disney World, and spent more time at this country than we ever have! We actually took the time to stroll the gardens (mind you- I was with my 22 year old son), examine the coy, shop extensively at the Mitsukoshi Department Store, and FINALLY eat at Katsura Grill, (we both had sushi, but were very tempted by the Chicken Curry). So glad to know we need to go back!!
Isn't it just the prettiest place?! I'll have to try the sushi next time.

I love Epcot too! Such a fun way to 'travel'. I think my favorite restaurant is inside the old Aztec temple. I just love the little boat ride 🙂 Thanks for sharing!

Hey Sonja, just last night I was thinking I should visit Japan next year. I've worked at a Japanese company for about 10 years and never visited.
I love how Disney has recreated parts of it here at Epcot. That teriyaki does look yummy.
