One of the things on my Barcelona to do list was la Boqueria Market. It was walking distance from our hotel, so we headed there for lunch one day.
The food stands were so colorful and organized.
We started with some fresh fruit juice smoothies that we enjoyed as we walked around.
I was so tempted by other things, like this candy, but my goal was to find a filling lunch.
The market did offer a few “food type” Barcelona souvenirs, but it wasn’t touristy at all, which I really liked.
In fact, many locals were there buying food for their families, like this seafood. And when I say many, I mean it! There were A LOT of people there!
There was quite the variety in food, including this salted fish and my favorite stand below.
Is that not the cutest? This was the egg stand that I thought was decorated so adorable. This is not how I buy my eggs at the grocery store, but I wish it was.
We can’t forget about the famous Spanish Ham. I ended up getting some of this in my lunch. Check out the video below to see what I got, as well as, the rest of the market.
Told you there were lots of people there! Wasn’t the guy who made my crepe entertaining?
I was very happy with my choice of lunch. I have to tell you, it was one of the best things I had the entire time I was in Barcelona. I wanted to go back the next day and get it again!
I love it when a travel book tells you to do something and it turns out awesome! If you are ever in Barcelona, you should definitely go to the Boqueria Market. I also highly recommend the crepes!
Love crepes? Savory or sweet? What is your favorite thing to get in them?

Ah this is great Sonja. Love the egg stall and your crepe man is quite the entertainer.
I only vaguely remember the market in Barcelona but do remember the equally colourful one in Madrid – probably because it was a more recent visit!

I love all markets, but la Boqueria is one of my favorites. Love a savory crepe and that one looks scrumptious!

I haven't gone to this place in Barcelona but now I know where to find this market the next time. The egg stand is one of a kind, first time I saw eggs sold like that. Colourful captures!

I love the color and variety of La Boqueria, Sonja. I can't remember that I went to the market when I was in Barcelona. Guess I need to go back, right?
Thanks for linking up this week.

Ok, that crepe looks delicious! And I'm loving that egg stand! The candy was like a rainbow…. definitely adding this to my must see list of places to visit. Looks extraordinary. I love finding places in travel books too and finding them to be just as described and wonderful. Thanks so much for sharing at Inspire Me Wednesday. Featuring you in this week's issue.

Thank so much, Mel! I'll check that out now.
Actually Mummy...
What an incredible mix of colours! Food markets are fast becoming my new favourite thing to do on a trip, and I'm finding – happily – that my children are starting to take an interest too. Barcelona is on my bucket list for a family holiday – I loved it in my twenties and I'd so like to share it with my kids.

I've been to La Boqueria many times but didn't know there was a crepe stand! I'll definitely try it out next time. I usually stick to sweet crepes – nutella and banana is my favourite. Glad you enjoyed La Boqueria!

We are currently in Barcelona and appreciate your photos! Great inspiration. Actually, today is a bonus day for us since all flights back to Germany have been canceled. (another strike)

I’m so glad you enjoyed the photos. I loved my time in Barcelona! I hope you did as well. So sorry about the flights. There seems to be a lot of issues with those lately,
