One thing I love to do when arriving in a new city is the double decker bus tour. The tickets usually aren’t cheap, but they are extensive. They last anywhere from 24 to 48 hours and have numerous stops throughout the city. I really feel like a get a great overview to help me plan the rest of my visit.
Barcelona is a port city where many Mediterranean cruises leave from. While I was visiting for several days, many people only have one day or even half a day before their cruise leaves. The city tour is a fantastic way to see as much of the city as possible in a short time.
Everything from this amazing street light above to the tree lined street below was seen from my bus tour.
In fact, every picture in this post was taken while on the city bus tour, most while sitting on the moving bus.
Check out the bird I caught in this picture of the round about.
The National Museum of Art…
Poble Espanyol, which is an architecture museum, was one of the many stops. I didn’t go in here, but I heard it was a very touristy place. Not recommended by the locals.
Besides, why go see remakes of buildings when you can see things like this right from the bus.
The fountains in Barcelona were fabulous!
Of course, no tour of Barcelona would be complete with seeing some of Gaudi’s work.
And then there are those unexpected sights like this tiny little gas station right on the side of the road.
I guess it works well for these tiny little cars we spotted. 🙂
I got a lot of video while on the bus tour as well. Check it out and subscribe to my YouTube channel while you’re at it.

That is such a great idea Sonja!
You get to see more and from different angles 🙂
The first time I was in Barcelona I walked until my feet hurt. It was well worth it.
However next time I will follow your advice and go on double decker bus tout as saves time, effort & $!
Beautiful pictures as usual 🙂

Hi Sonja,
I've been a double decker bus in London. You're right; it was a good way to see the city.
Barcelona is a beautiful place. I enjoyed "traveling" today.
Thanks for making Blue Monday special.
Happy Blue Monday!

Hi Sonja, what a wonderful mini tour of this vibrant city. That double decker bus would give you a great view of the things you want to visit later in your trip. I was having fun in Barcelona and I did not have to leave home! Amazing. Thanks for this terrific share.

This is awesome! What a gorgeous city. I've never taken one of these bus tours, but now you have me thinking that's a great way to see the sights, especially if on a short visit. Loved your video too. Thanks so much for sharing at Inspire Me Wednesday. Featuring you in this week's issue.
